The Final Chapter

The final chapter was almost pointless to me. I felt like the chapter before could have finished the book and left many questions open which would have made me think about the book more. I am rather confused about Gatsby though. Gatsby is easily the most interesting character in my opinion. He Lived a life of mystery the whole book which really kept the book rolling. Without him the story would have been pointless. Nick would be my second favorite character behind Gatsby. Even though in the end Gatsby died I still would want to live his life. I really enjoyed reading about Gatsby's life even if he was crazy in love with another mans wife. However, I did not like ready about Tom. He really made my reading experience worse because of his cocky personality. Overall I would recommend this book to another person who is learning about the 1920's in history but never would I recommend it to someone for leisure.

Chapter 7: Gatsby's love is shown

Gatsby fires all of his servants because Daisy does not have fun at Gatsby's party.  Gatsby finds out that Daisy loved Tom while she was missing Gatsby. Gatsby is so upset with Daisy. This event really shocked me, what was Gatsby thinking when he left Daisy for that long of time. Daisy was bound to fall in love with someone so I think it was rather expected. However i am rather surprised now that Gatsby is so upset about this. If i was Gatsby i would have approached Tom first before confronting Daisy so that tom would understand. Tom Obviously does not love daisy so i think he would let her go if Gatsby paid him off. a question i'd like to pose is Why is Gatsby so in love with Daisy?

Chapter 5: Gatsby and Daisy

This Chapter we find out about Gatsby and Daisy's love. This was expect. I expected this because of all the hints in the first chapter that led the reader to think that Daisy had a secret lover and Gatsby was missing somehting from his life. It is quite obvious that Gatsby is madly in love with Daisy which I was not expecting because of the character Gatsby is made out to be. I always thought Gatsby would be more of a secret, closed character who never showed anyone his true self. Now I feel like Gatsby is letting his guard down with Daisy. This may be a bad choice for Gatsby I'm unsure and will find out in the later chapters.

Chapter 4: Lunch With Gatsby

So far while reading Gatsby this has to be the most interesting and insightful chapter. We learn a lot about Gatsby's background and his daily life. A question I still have about him however though is how he attained he wealth? How does he make his money. He claims he inherited his money. I highly doubt that he did though. I think Gatsby is selling drugs, or something illegal. I'm really interested in what will happen with Gatsby and Daisy but I had a feeling that Gatsby would have a secret lover or something in his life that he was missing. This chapter really cleared up my thoughts on that.

Chapter 3: The First Gatsby Party

Chapter three Nick attend his first Gatsby Party after being invited. The party is amazing, but the same as the party at Toms house before. This is going to be a trend I think because everyone is the same. People don't have  a personality. Nick i'm guessing feel out of place at first because he doesn't know anyone at the party. After a while though he meets a man at a table who recognized him from the war. The man introduces himself as Jay Gatsby.
This even left me with a lot of questions. I really wonder why Gatsby is so hidden at his own party. Does he try to observe his parties to make them better? or is he looking for a certain person? Hopefully my questions will be answers but i think its very odd that Gatsby is sitting at a table rather than showing off his amazing house to his unknown guests. The people who attend Gatsby's party seem life less. The more they drink the louder and more obnoxious they get.
Nick notices this and starts getting sorta upset towards the end of the chapter. While walking home he sees a man who has crashed his car in a ditch. The man Craws out and has no idea what is going on because he is so drunk. This shocks Nick later because he take a look at his life and says He work too and doesn't party all the time.

Chapter 1: Laying the Ground

The Great Gatsby starts off very slow. As a reader I think it starts this way so we can get  a better  picture of the  plot. Chapter 1 we learn who the great gatsby is. We find out what a horrible world the people are living in. The First Chapter really shocked me because i thought the story would start out a little faster. The background we found out about Nick hopefully will help us as we read farther into the story. I really hope we can learn some more about how Nick makes a living. The thing i'm looking most forward too is learning about the New York and the roaring twenties. These time were very fruitful for the people living in it. We learn about about the characters who the story will revolve around, however I feel that none of the characters have lives. One major event that I would like to address is Nick and Tom. Tom is a very cocky man who is almost full of himself and it is very obvious. On page 10 Nick tells Tom which bond company he works for and Tom plays dumb. This angers Nick because Tom pretends not to know the firm he works for. I feel later on though Nick will adjust to the way society reacts to him.
This quote below is a way Nick describes where he is.
"the whole town is desolate. All the cars have the left rear wheel painted black as a mourning wealth, and there's a persistent wail all night along the north shore." page 9
